What is an eagle in golf and how is it scored?

I often hear golfers celebrate when they make an eagle during a round. What exactly does an eagle mean in golf scoring? Also, how difficult is it to achieve an eagle compared to other scores like birdies or pars?

An eagle in golf refers to a player finishing a hole two strokes under par. So, if you score a 3 on a par-5 hole or a 2 on a par-4, that's considered an eagle! It's quite an impressive feat and typically demands both precision and power in your shots. While eagles are rarer than birdies, they pop up more often than albatrosses.
