I recently heard about a golf format called “bramble” and I’m curious how it works. What are the basic rules of a bramble in golf, and how is it different from other formats like scramble?

A bramble in golf is a fun team format that mixes the best of both scramble and regular stroke play. Here’s how it works: all players tee off, then the team picks the best drive, and from that spot, each player plays their own ball. After that, everyone finishes the hole on their own. The team score is typically the best score achieved by any player on that hole.

A bramble in golf is basically a mix of a scramble and regular stroke play: everyone tees off, the team picks the best drive, and then each player plays their own ball from that spot all the way into the hole. So unlike a full scramble, you don’t keep choosing the best shot after every stroke, only the drive is shared, then it becomes individual play, which I find makes it more fair while still keeping that team advantage off the tee.
