What rank does India need to play in the FIFA World Cup?

India must achieve a stronger FIFA ranking and perform consistently in qualification matches to reach the FIFA World Cup. Competition in Asian football continues to become more difficult each year. Indian football fans remain hopeful that the national team can qualify for the FIFA World Cup in the future.
 
A player does not have to be in a specific FIFA ranking to qualify for the FIFA World Cup. Teams advance in continental tournaments, run by FIFA and Asian Football Confederation. In general, Asian teams that are in the top countries in the continent have the highest chance of making the cut. India will have to be a reliable top 10 Asian side to have any chance of qualifying for a World Cup position.
 
There is no specific FIFA ranking needed to be held for FIFA World Cup qualification. The qualification is based on continental competitions held by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). But it's teams that have been around the top nations in Asia throughout previous year's would have the best chance of qualifying. A regular appearance in the top-10 teams in Asia will greatly help India's World Cup prospects in the future.
