While watching the NBA Finals, I became curious about the NBA Championship trophy that the winning team lifts. I found out that in the NBA it is called the Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy. It’s one of the most iconic trophies in basketball. Does anyone know more history about this trophy and when it was first introduced?

The Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy - the one that the real champions get to take home - is awarded to the winners of the National Basketball Association Finals every year. And fittingly enough its named after the man who did a lot to grow the game: former NBA commish Larry O'Brien. This trophy is the ultimate prize in the league to win.
